Non-binding and non-judgmental environments are crucial during early ideation. The idea is still not formed, and you are figuring out what exactly is it that you want to say.
Trying to make the idea presentable to an audience at the same time can be counterproductive. Rendering with high precision and making presentation decisions in early stages of thought is counterproductive. On one hand, it constraints and solidifies the exploration prematurely. On the other, considering an external reader while formulating a still non-internalized thought adds extra cognitive load, which can be overwhelming and lead to block.
