Writing as a medium for making sense
draft
I often feel overwhelmed with the amount of thoughts in my head.
Externalizing thought yields clarity. Linked-notes allow me to use Writing as a user interface that facilitates thinking.
I write to:
- think
- learn
- keep note of ideas and knowledge that I consider noteworthy
- process my emotions
- engage into a structured activity to force my brain to focus on something 1
-
I do this when I feel that my attention is too diffused and I can’t do any thinking. Writing random gibberish is relatively low effort so I can do it even when I have no focus, but at the same time it’s structured enough to collect my brain into a single point. ↩
