You are constantly voting

, 1 min read

Most people like the concept of voting. While I’m uncertain why, I suspect that feeling heard and acknowledged contributes to it. There is also general agreement that you should vote in presidential elections and other processes that directly affect you.

However, beyond these formal instances, a subtler form of voting takes place in daily life.

Buying groceries from Amazon is a vote supporting the company. Engaging with a social media post is a vote towards making the content viral. Even greeting people with a smile casts a vote for your public perception as a cheerful individual.

Although not always evident, every action is part of an implicit election.
